The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season Xbox One Review
The Walking Dead is an award-winning vision of Robert Kirkman's global hit comic book series. With over 80 Game of the Year Awards and numerous other accolades, this game of choice and consequence has made gamers around the world understand and experience the true horror and emotional impact of being a survivor of an undead apocalypse
Play as Lee Everett, a convicted criminal, who has been given a second chance at life in a world devastated by the undead. With corpses returning to life and survivors stopping at nothing to maintain their own safety, protecting an orphaned girl named Clementine may offer him redemption in a world gone to hell.
You will meet people and experience events that will impact the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes, and you'll be forced to make immediate decisions that are not only tough, but that will have a direct effect on the story you experience. You will have to live with the profound and lasting consequences of those decisions throughout the game.
The undead are everywhere, but they're not your only problem. Starvation, betrayal, heartbreak and more will challenge you as you attempt to survive in the world of The Walking Dead.
Its the game that will lift your spirits, fill you despair and take you to the brink of tears... you'll blubber like a child crying for its parents. You may even wet yourself.
The Walking Dead The Complete First Season from TellTale Games comes to Xbox One for the first time after doing the rounds on every possible conceivable platform and who wouldn't want to own this episodic wonder on multiple devices? It's ACE!
Placed in the shoes of a convicted felon, who didn't actually make it to prison due to the apocalypse...lucky right? You'll find life during the end of days can be difficult alone but when you take charge of a child? Oh boy...
The Walking Dead doesn't just give you choices it gives you gut wrenching decisions to make not just for the benefit of your character but for that of Clem, the young girl who you rescue and take on a journey to find her parents, whether that story ends up happily or not, I'll leave that to you to find out.
It's an honest look at how things could play out from walker attacks to humans turning on one and other, when you feel safe that's when you should start to panic.
The Walking Dead on Xbox One also offers up farmiliar characters from the comic book and TV series. You'll know them when you see them and they all have the characteristics you would expect, while their visits may be fleetings they all add to the feeling that this world is so much bigger than we will ever know.
While the game prides itself on letting the player know throughout that the choices you make will affect gameplay and your characters relationships that isn't completely true. You may choose to save one character but see them die no matter what and as a result the relationship sours with the one you left on the line. Some moments are unwinable but ultimately this is a scripted game and we are but pawns in its amazing story.
The Xbox One version of The Walking Dead The Complete First Season is awesome but riddled with a few graphical glitches that you probably wouldn't notice if you weren't looking for them. The other niggling factor is the fact you can't invert the Y axis on your controller, it makes some shooting scenes difficult as well as kicking zombies in the face.
Apart from that though, this is a must own title, a balls to the wall game deserving of its Game Of The Year status, this is the story you will want to be a part of and compelled to finish!
