The friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish begins a search for her long-lost parents, and everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family along the way.

Imagine living your life, 20 seconds at a time and then starting over again. You retain the basics on how to stay alive but the ones you love, the important things never seem to stick. The forgetful fish Dory from Finding Nemo finally gets to tell her story and it's one of heartbreak and laughter. Disney Pixar at its best.

Ellen DeGeneres reprises her role as the forgetful fish on this 2016 adventure which is by far better than the animation that allowed this story to happen.

Of course the usual suspects appear from Finding Nemo from Nemo and his Dad to the totally tubular turtle, all has their part to play in helping a grown up Dory discover just who her family is and where she came from.

The story itself is insanely astute on many levels on the one hand you have Dory whose short term memory is what endears her to the audience but on the other hand, it's what left her alone for so long. Finding Dory is one bitter sweet tale of heroism and perseverance that will break your heart, make you smile and laugh in 30 second segments.

Have Disney Pixar created their most melancholy tale so far? We all remember how alone Wall-E felt but to feel alone but never quite know why? That's a kick in the nuts that not many can recover from.

Finding Dory is a tale of family and friendships, taking a chance and lending a helping hand to those in need. Dory meets a number of new friends along the way but none as awesome as Sigourney Weaver. Yes, Sigourney appears as herself in a way you won't expect and it's not until this chance meeting that Finding Dory really takes off.  It's clever and wonderfully endearing at just how trusting Dory can be. However everyone she does trust seems to be kind hearted which is a dangerous web to weave for the younger generation, there are fish out there who might not have Dory's best interests at heart and we don't see that.

What we do see is Dory finding her way, surviving from a young fish into the adult we know and love... lost and alone for a long part of that time.

Finding Dory has heart, courage and comedy at it's core and that... that makes this one of the must see films of 2016.
